Web Designs using XHTML and CSS by S A Meadows

What is XHTML?

XHTML is an acronym for Extensible HyperText Markup Language. XHTML is almost identical to HTML 4.01 except that XHTML is a stricter and cleaner version of HTML. W3C defines XHTML as the latest version of HTML. XHTML is gradually replacing HTML. This statement comes from the W3C tutorial website:

XHTML pages can be read by all XML enabled devices AND while waiting for the rest of the world to upgrade to XML supported browsers, XHTML gives you the opportunity to write "well-formed" documents now, that work in all browsers and that are backward browser compatible !!!

What is CSS?

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a type of file used to add style (e.g. fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents. CSS is used in conjunction with web pages written in HTML and XHTML. The CSS specifications are maintained by the W3C.

About S A Meadows Web Design

I have been an avid computer user for a long time, but it wasn't until 1998 that I started taking computer classes. Since then, I have been studying Programming, Databases, Web Design, and AutoCAD at various community colleges and the University of Central Florida.

When I design a website, I use XHTML and I adhere to the W3C standards and use the W3C validator to check for any errors. Since I do not use any of the WYSIWYG type programs, the web design coding is as compact and error free as anyone can make it and search engines like error free websites. If a search engine can not crawl your website, then no one else will be able to find it using search engines such as Google, Yahoo, or MSN.

Web Design - Current Projects

Web Design is where you can find a link to some of my current projects and see some of the web designs that I have created. Below is a slide show which is found on HavaPrintz.com, one of my earlier web designs.

Favorite Recipes

Favorite Recipes has some of my favorite recipes. I will continue to add to the Favorite Recipes page when time allows. One of the things that I create in my web designs is a css (Cascading Style Sheet) for printing. You can see how this works by printing one of the recipes. The css for printing removes all things from the page that is not part of the text. You will not print the header of the page that holds the logo, the navigation, or any pictures that would use the expensive color inks in a printer.

Jokes and Stories

This web page is here just for fun and demonstrations. It contains links to some of the jokes and stories that have been sent to me through email.  These web pages will demonstrate the css (Cascading Style Sheets) for print, a special style can be created so only the wanted text will be printed when a print command is preformed. Try printing one of these items or one of the recipes for a demonstration of this special style. This section may grow when I find some time to add more stories and jokes so be sure to check back for updates.

Site Map

The site map is one of the most important pages in a web design because it has a list of all pages that can be found on a website. This is very important for all search engines and allows them to index the entire website. The site map page on this web site contains links to all of the public pages on SAMeadows.com.
